Rev. Mitchell Boone has served as Senior Minister of First United Methodist Church of Dallas since July 2022. Before coming to FirstChurch, he pastored White Rock United Methodist Church in East Dallas and Lone Oak United Methodist Church in Lone Oak, Texas. Mitchell holds a BA in Religion from Hendrix College and a Master of Divinity from The Iliff School of Theology.
He has completed a post graduate fellowship with Hendrix College and the Lilly Foundation focused on Clergy Civic Engagement, earned a certificate in Spiritual Entrepreneurship through Columbia Business School and CLAL, and received the Henry Denman Evangelism Award in 2020.
Mitchell follows in the footsteps of his father and two great grandfathers, all of whom served as United Methodist pastors. He believes the church is at its best when it stands at the intersection of social holiness and discipleship, creating space for belonging, purpose, justice and joy.
In 2012 Mitchell married Elizabeth VanOort, and together they are raising two energetic boys, Cashel and Declan. They love life in East Dallas, where Mitchell can often be found cheering for Dallas sports teams, experimenting in the kitchen, hacking away on local golf courses, or digging for good deals on vinyl records.
